The Challenge

On continuous GAL (galvanizing) and CAL (annealing) lines, bridle and deflector rolls run in constant contact with strip surfaces at operating temperatures up to 800°C.

Soft aluminum and zinc from the coated strip tend to pick up on the roll surface, degrading grip, causing strip marking, and forcing frequent roll changeouts and re-machining.
